Hello all, Im hoping maybe someone has a little extra time to help a newbie learn some basic micros 3700 functions. I have programmed aloha multiple times and even restaurant pro express. So i am not new completely to all this.
I am currently trying to figure out, when you ring up say Crown Royal i want it to force the user to pick between a group of priced items. Like coke $1.00 or redbull 2.00 etc..
I am taking over a system that was in the business before us and wanting to change some things up. I have noticed how when you select the item strip steak it has a required modifier of temps. When i look at it in menu items i see it has a required condiment under the groups tab. I can not find how they created this group and chose what would be available. When i try to add a required condiment group to one of my liquor items the box is greyed out... Can i not add a required condiment to liquor items? And if so how do i create it and allow my liquor items to have required condiments?

Hopefully this made sense to someone.. i am still kind of getting my head around it all.
Thanks for any Help,
Jeff

ok i kind of made it pass that. Im stuck now on when i ring up crown it pops up my required condiment page, and even tho i set it to min 1 max 1 it will let me choose as many as i want . And i cant leave the screen till i void everything off.

man wish i could edit my previous posts.. Sorry i got the previous problem working , but now if i do like a quantity entry like 10 crown and cokes the crown price multiplys times 10 but the $1.00 coke doesnt multiply itself by 10..

The "Coke" button should be a condiment, and set up as a priced condiment, and linked to the "Required Condiments" for the Crown Royal.
Make sure your "Coke" menu item has a condiement item class and that the "condiemnt" check mark is ticked. I dont use the min/max feature....it's not usually something you need.

Thanks Wildbar! Ill be checking that tonight. I know they are all set as priced condiments. Ill check the item class also. The reason being for only allowing 1 condiment selection with crown is that it will charge an extra dollar if you want coke or juice with it at the appropriate tax rate. And that helps with the flow of the ordering screen.. but i may just stay with all the mixers at the bottom of the page..

Thanks again for your help!

Required condiments won't automatically multiply themselves out, but you can make the number of required condiments match the number of menu items ordered. This is done in the menu item class linked to the menu item.
So for your example you would go to the menu item class linked to Crown and check the Match Condiment Quantities box on the General Options tab. This way if you order 10 Crowns you'll have to enter 10 modifiers.

The Min/Max is meant more for something like pizza toppings, where you may or may not have multiple modifiers on a single item. To use this you need a button on the screen to escape if you're done before reaching the Max#. This button is programmed on the touchscreen as Category: Function Transaction, Function: Exit Condiment. I usually label it No More Mods.

One thing about menu item classes. Since they're linked to possibly hundreds of menu items you can really bang things up by mistake when you mess around with them. Don't mess with live ones that are working, especially if you're trying out functionality you haven't used before. Copy the working class, (select it in the list, press F5 then F6), and link the new test class to a single menu item. This way you can break things without messing up operations. Also, make sure you know what items are linked to your class before making live changes. In the Menu Item screen click your search binoculars. On the bottom right are two dropdown boxes. Select Menu Item Class in the first one, and pick the class you want to change in the second. This will filter your view and only show menu items linked to that class.

Awesome help! thank you guys! Its all kinda starting to make sense now.. I do have a couple more questions if you guys have time.. I am trying to have a default condiment added to certain items.. Like when you ring up a sex on the beach it will just auto add a 1.00 orange juice priced condiment to it without having to actually select it. Is this possible?

Also i cant for the life of me find where to change the name, address, etc on the guest check printouts.

Thanks again for all the help you guys are life savers!!

Also one more thing.. I havent used windows CE much, tho it looks like xp stripped down.. I am trying to get my logo.bmp out to each terminal as they dont seem to use the one on the server. And well they have these terminals so locked down im having trouble figureing out how to network the bmp to each terminal. Or i could try and find the usb inputs that seem to be buried under the outer hardware somewhere..

Thanks again,
Jeff

Why would you have a default condiment added? Seems just like more work. Just increase the price of your ssex on the Beach by $1.00
Change the header and trailer info in "Sales" "Descriptors" "Headers" amnd "Trailers"
You can also link a bitmap to print on your receipts here. To have it print the bitmap must be in the bitmap folder (and at the right size setting)
Moving items out to the terminals you use CAL Put the bit map you want to use in your bitmap folder but also copy it into the Micros / RES / CAL for the machines you have. Usually Workstation 4 and 5 and WIN 32 It should be placed in the folder FILES / CF / MICROS / BITMAPS

Hey Wildbar and thanks so much for the help! The reason for the added default condiment is for tax purposes.
Trying to figure out the logo bitmap thing now.. I currently have 4 terminals and the BOH. When i am in the CAL folder i have a Win32 a WS4 a WS4LX a WS5 and a WS5A, all have the folders files/cf/micros/bitmaps but currently none have a bitmap in them so im not sure on the size.. Win 32 has MICROS\Res\CAL\Win32\Files\Micros\Res\Pos to get to its bitmap folder. In that folder is a 600x200 bmp but its not the one that is being used at the terms. So i would just need to find my correct size then put a bmp labeled logo.bmp in each of the 4 terms bitmap folders then reload database?
Hopefully all that made some sense... Is there a way to do the default condiment ??

Thanks again for all the help !!!
Jeff

Reload your database, turn your workstation printers off, reboot the termianls, turn your printers back on after you have put the logo's on the workstations through CAL. Your logo can't be bigger ttan 12kb or it won't show.

Hey Wildbar and thanks! Im actually just trying to get the logo that appears on the touchscreen when logging in and the screen saver.. It has the old business's logo bouncing around. Are you talking about the printed logo on our guest checks?
Any idea on how to force a added condiment without selecting it?

Thanks again,
Jeff

Logo screen make it the same size as the default bitmap, res3700.bmp i think its called. Use CAL to push it out to the machines then reboot the terminals. Never used forced condiments...sorry. Still not sure even for tax reasons you would need 1.

Hey Wildbar and thanks so much for all the help! OK got my logo bouncing on the screens out there :) As far as the tax purposes it saves a little money if you say charge for the crown and then if they want coke with it you charge an extra amount for that at the lower tax rate.
I am having a little trouble getting my guest checks to print out how i would like. When i ring up that crown and i select the coke it prints out on the guest check as crown with its base price then the total has the extra dollar for the coke but it is not shown on the check where that dollar came from. I guess what im trying to say is i would like for the priced condiment to add its price to the main items total for print out. I dont really need the coke to show up on the ticket but need the price to be included in the crown total on the guest check..

Thanks again for all your help!
Jeff

I have never heard that split take thing but i'm from Canada We just sell a highball and its the same price and tax if there no pop or it there is pop. Think theres 2 ways to do what your asking 1) HAve the crown show up with its price and then have the pop show up below it with ist price (as in a priced condiment) To do this make a "Print Class" called Priced condiment. Have it set to print at the order printers you need as well as click "Print On" everything at the top but "Fiscal Cash Register" Checking custmer reciept is ythe option that makes it print on the customers bill. 2) You can also roll up the price so the condiemnt adds to the main item. I have never done this but am sure i can figure it out for you quick if you want.

that would be awesome ... im trying to figure out how to make a print class real fast...

Thank you!

Hey and thanks! I found the print classes but i guess i dont really want to make a new one if im wanting the price to roll up to the main item.. So i would just need to modify the current print class these items use.. And i understand it will also affect any other item that is attached to that print class? SO i may eventually make a new class. It might not affect to many items.

Hey Jeff. Micros has a couple of options with prices condiments. They can either print on a separate line with the price, consolidate the price and print the actual item on it's own line, or (and i don't understand this option) consolidate the price and not print on the check. It sounds like you've fallen into the last option. check the print class for your coke upcharge and make sure it's set to print on the check. If it isn't, assign or create a new print class. I don't know the exact check boxes off the top of my head, and all my servers were taken out by Sandy, but if you can't find them I;m sure Wildbar will be able to get them to you.

Hey pmegan and thanks! I have gotten the coke to print out with its charge there on the guest check now.. I would like to be able to have the coke just not show up and its dollar charge be added to the crowns price on the guest check. I am currently looking in "RVC print design" and i see a few different consolidation options.. consolidate parent, consolidate like, and consolidate all. Is this the part you are talking about or maybe somewhere different?

And thanks again for all the help ! yall are life savers :))

Hey Jeff. This is the print classes, not the RVC print design. The only problem with not having the coke item show is that if you have a check with say a crown & coke and a crown on the rocks you'll have 2 crowns, one a $7 and one at $8. By showing the upcharge mods on the check you prevent a lot of charge disputes.
