I am not the regular IT person that deals with the servers, he is on vacation.

We use ARCserve for our back up. right now i cannot get back up to run or even see our tape drive. I have tried re-booting the server and the tape drive with no luck.

Anyone have advice for me? We haven't backed up in 2 days and I am getting very nervous.

Thanks!

I had this happen to one of my servers and the problem was ith the scsi card. Can you see the tape devices in the boot screens when you restart the server?

I am seeing this same problem on one of my backup servers. It is an W2K3 SP2 machine running Arcserve9 build 2206. I have and HP Ultrium LTO3 drive on it which was running fine until recently. Then Arcserve could no longer see the tape drive or the SCSI card, BUT Windows saw both of those just fine. I was able to put an LTO2 drive on the server and it saw the drive, but I can't use it as the capacity is too low. When we put the LTO3 back on it, Arcserve can't see it.

I have another server that can use the LTO3 drive just fine, but we are trying to retire that one. I am currently running backups from there.

Does this sound like as SCSI card as previously suggested or is there another direction I should look?

Thanks!

FYI, I have deleted the tapeengine registry key and this has not fixed the problem. I have played with that for several hours and nothing seems to force Arcserve to see the drive.
