Question regarding use of BOMs in ACCPAC Order Entry forms.
When in an OE order entry form, when entering a detail line, once you specify an item#, if that item# has a BOM associated with it, you can optionally then fill in the BOM in the KIT/BOM column of the line. However, it is completely optional to fill this in. I want to understand the difference of filling in the BOM, or not.
Our normal procedure is to use "assembly" to create items that have BOMs and then on the OE screen we do not specify a BOM. However, i want to understand what actually happens if you do specify a BOM on the OE form. Does it somehow create an assembly for you using the BOM specified? If so, at what point does the assembly get generated?
Thank you.
