Why would you need a newer version of win media player?
Seems to me the version you have is the best as there isnt any formatting in that version that prevents you downloading and playing. Some newer versions of win media player wont play certain files as there is some sort of encoding in them.

The free "Windows Security Update CD", had all the security (as of Feb-2004), I.e. update, and Media Player update. I don't know if it is still available from M.S., but ask if anyone you know has it.

yeah.. you don't need a newer version of windows media player...

you just need cd burning software...

thanks
I have a cd burner qps usb 2.0 / 1.1. it runs a program called nero5 this is for burning cd's.

I was at walmart.com dowload looking at music it said that I need a windows media player version I believe 7.1 or higher. I found a 9.0 and want to make sure it is not going to freeze up my machine when I download and install.

Or do you know how I can dowload music with version 6.4. I only have a dial up connection.

Any ideas or comments?

Thanks

If walmart says you need it then i guess you do, but only for walmart's site. I would just forget about walmart and move on, but who knows, maybe all those places require newer media player versions so that you can cheat. Thats part of what i was explaining about up above, its some sorty of coding that only allows you so many uses of the tune, or not to make any copies, things like that, but they need media player 7 or better as media player 6.4 doesnt have that junk in it and you can play whatever you want as long as you want. Course there are other media players anyway so who cares about win media player. There are many better ones.
But i understand you need it for walmart.com, so you have to make a choice.
And, yes, as someone else said, dont use caps, its considered as being rude, like hollering at someone. Im sure you didnt mean to be rude, you just didnt know this, so im only telling you why so you wont do it other places~

micker377:
if the update you are referring to is . Update for Windows Media Player 6.4, 7.1 or 9 Series for Microsoft Windows Millennium (KB828026) I have it installed.

No, this was a security update for all Windows (98 - ME - and XP). Part of the upgrade was to upgrade Media Player to v. 9.
