Help with volume of emails on Exchange 5.5

The cheapest solution is to run perfmon against your Exchange server. You can use the the Exchange IMC objects. Add the Outbound Messages Total and Inbound Messages Total to determine the number of messages moved through the IMC since the last time it was restarted. There's also a ton of 3rd party tools.
