Hello experts!

I am using vbSendmail.dll to send email. I can send internal emails but cant send to an external account (yahoo account, etc). Just wondering why it keeps on returning an error when I start sending to a yahoo account. Does this has to do with security, access or user profiles?

This is the message:

"550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for somebody@yahoo.com"

Thanks in advance.

It would suggest that security on the SMTP gateway that you are using is configured to prevent any but authorised, nominated IP addresses to route mail to anything other than the internal mailboxes

Thanks for replying strongm!

I tried it in another pc, the Ms Outlook he is using can send to a yahoo account but when I used the exe sample that comes with vbsendmail, I cannot send mail. I just set the basic properties. Is there anything else that I need to set?

Thanks again!

Probably need to set authenticate to true and supply username and password.

Thanks for replying johnwm!

I'll check that!

Thanks again.

In the SendMail documentation Yahoo is specifically mentioned as an example where setting the authentication properties is required.
