Help with softphone and VPN

I am able to see the call server from home while connected to my VPN. I can make calls and browse the directory without fail, but I cannot hear anything, no ringing, no voicemail, nothing.

I have a VCM and have this working with a vpn tunnel at 2 seperate locations, but none of which are using the softphone. They use a hardphone SW5610 without fail.

Any idea what is up with it? Or what to look for?

Does that VA Adapter work the same way you described with no IP on the remote side?
 
Did not read whole post... but I had similar issue, I changed the Codec and all was fixed! The codec was changed in the Softconsole, try G.711 or G.729.



 
There is just a TechTip 187 release that describes your problem as well:

With Phone Manager Pro PC Softphone the error message “Failed to register with IP Office for VOIP operation! Contact your system administrator” can be displayed. This is due to the Microsoft Windows Com+ System Application service not running.


The Com+ System Application service must be set to Automatic (and be started) in order for the IP Softphone to be able to correctly register. Additionally, the QoS RSVP service must be set to Manual or Automatic. Any other combination will result in the "Failed to register with IP Office for VOIP Operation" error message to appear.



 
kwing, I dont know I will have to try it and see.

Tekcetera, changing the codec did nothing for me, without the VA Adapter it would not work for me.


Escorthosis, that was a problem on my local machine which was pointed out in this thread earlier. Getting it to work remotely was a whole different story.
