Help with setting up CRON 1

Currently I do not see a CRON running by using

cat /etc/cron or cron -l

I need to create a cronjob which will check disk space an e-mail the result to me.

Could someone help me?

I'm running:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3 (Taroon Update 4)
 
Honestly I have and failed. I don't write scripts and thought it would be simple. Please ignore me I'll figure it out eventually.
 
I want to correct my error. I am used to keeping the .mc's in a different dir, but at least my RHEL is setup to do a "make" in /etc/mail correctly. In solaris, it is not so straightforward. And boy, this mc includes a lot of stuff you wouldn't use.
