Help with server upgrade...

Want to upgrade the CPU in my 4.11 server. Currently have a K6-2 @ 200mhz (socket-7), and want to replace it with a Pentium2 @ 300mhz (Slot-1). Since the CPU interface is different, I will have to replace the mainboard as well.

Is Novell as sensitive to mainboard resources as Win9x? If so, will it automatically re-configure for the new board (like WinME)? Or is it necessary to do a complete re-installation of the OS? I am not changing ANYTHING except the mobo & CPU; the hard-drive, NIC, vid card, etc., are all remaining.

Any pitfalls/traps/growling monsters I should be on the lookout for here?

The only items to watch will be the slot numbers of the NIC and SCSI adapters and INT & Port numbers of any IDE devices. Everything else should be just fine.

Thanks a lot Mark, it went smooooth...

You were absolutely correct on the NIC being the only issue. I couldn't physically put the NIC back in the same PCI slot on the new mobo, and on startup, Netware said something to the effect that the NIC was not in the assigned slot.

Loaded INETCFG, changed the slot #, downed and rebooted, back in business!

btw, on the other issue (synthetic time), you were correct on the TID #. I've got the info, and am sure I can handle the problem now.
