Having recently switched School Programs from Adobe PD 2.0 to PSP 8.0. , I find that I am unable to teach my kids how to work with merged images. We can merge them with the Copy and Paste, but then the only 2 things that seem to work are the eraser and the Move tool. How do you re-size the merged image (Layer 2). When you use the re-size, it only re-sizes the main picture (Layer 1).

Help if you can, the directions are too complicated and I would just like a clear answer as to how to work with layers.

Thanks so much......Greg

You need to paste the merged image as a new layer. Usually Cntrl+L does the trick, or right click and Paste as new layer. Once that is done there is a tool under the mouse pointer tool on the toolbar that looks like a rectangle with points around it. Click on that and the layer should select itself. You can then move it deform it etc....

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

Have the layer you want to resize selected. Go to Image/Resize unclick the resize all layers box, set the size you want the layer sized to and click OK. I also use bicubic sample instead of smart size or any of the others as I often don't have to sharpen it which just saves a step.

Thank You both very much for these helpful tips.....

I already tried it and it works great.

Too bad the directions aren't this helpful

Say you want to merge image A with image B to make image C.
Select A or a portion of it. Copy the selection. Duplicate B, delete the original A and B images on the screen. This so you don't accideltly change the original A and B.

Make the duplicate image B active. Paste as new layer. This will paste the copied image as a layer on the duplicate image B.

Move the new layer around on B if you need to using the move tool. Merge layers (flatten it). Save this flattened image as image C.

Now you can do all edits to image C.
