I am setting up a new link between an Avaya PBX and a Nortel Option 11C mini. I have setup the paramaters on both PBXs. From the far-end, I can perform a physical loop back to the avaya.

But with the Nortel, I can't seem to give a physical loop locally from the cable 2MB PRI cable. When I attempt to give a the physical loop back, the red light (remote) comes on and when I connect to the Avaya, the yellow light (remote) comes on.

Please how do I implement a loop-back, physical or software wise on the Option 11 c mini.

Thanks.

if you loop pins 1,2 4 and 5 on a rj 14 or pins 1,3 9,11 on a db-15 and the nortel does not green up, your card or interface cable is bad.. a nortel pri to loop back has to stand up, establish the d then rls wronge more to pass a self test

Hi John,

I managed to clear the red alarm. However, there is now a yellow alarm. When I STAT the loop, I get,

translate (e) to binary. For example, if (e) = 24 (decimal), the
translated binary value = 0 0 1 1 0 0 0. This binary value may now be
interpreted as follows: 0 = C6 0 = AI 1 = LM 1 = LF 0 = C3 0 = AS 0 =

Remeber that a YELLOW alarm is an alarm that is transmitted by the far end telling you that it is recieving no signal. So if you see a YELLOW, you are seeing them, but they are sending it because thay can't see you!

the all ones on the far end denotes layer 1 up.. but can not sync.. anything in your lcnt tables?

the errors are common, if the far end enables and disables, each timeslot(trunk) fails..

ld 96
stat serv

toggle those then take the d down, then take the loop down and back up..

if your service msgs are not in a matching service msg state with the far end... your trunks will never enable..

service msgs are only used during the enable handshake

one other thing i would try.. ench 1 1.. and since that is an opt 11.. ld 96 dis msdl x all, (ld 60 to dis the clock IF it's on that card) disl the loop, reseat the card, then enl msdl x fdl

you may need to map dch (96) and/or remove your t from the ddb (73) before you can dis cc 0..
