I'm totally new to telephony and some of these task are just dropping on my lap left and right. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

I need to reset the password to an ext.

On the terminal it shows:
"AUD313 XXXXXXXX DIAL XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX"
over and over again. I hit "enter" and "TTY 01 XXX XXX XXX OVL111 BLGD XX" shows up. I type in "logi" and it prompts me for "PASS". I type the password in and press enter. The system returns a long warning about only authorize users should log in. So i'm assuming i got the incorrect password.

What's confusing is i have a printout of info for the system: Meridain Mail option 11c... logon id, password, pwd1, pwd2, pw00, etc. I tried all of them and the system still didn't let me in. Am I doing something incorrectly. Obviously, I'm responsible for the system and content but if i can't get the correct password. Do i contact Nortel or my Telephone company for the password? any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

the text file does not mean you didn't log in, it is a banner option on the port.. after your attempt, you should get > that is the command prompt

or a . prompt sometimes ...

does it also say tty xx LOGGED IN? if so you are in ...

ok I see a . after typing in the password. It doesn't say tty xx LOGGED IN. Just a quick . and then AUD313 XXXXXXXX DIAL XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX every 2 seconds.

Is there a manual or any docs on how to navigate thru the system? I've search extensively on the web and didn't come up with anything. Since it's not GUI base, I'm lost without know any commands. I'm looking for things like after you log in, how to do reset a password for a voicemail, etc... Thanks for helping out.

you'll need to get onto mail, a carrige return will tell you if your in, if you get a ovl code your not. if you get a ovl 400 your locked out for 24 hours.. if you in ...ld 20 return will get you a req: prompt,,, then a ? will work (not a lot of help) prt return, dnb return and pit in your ext number.. a few more returns will show you your set... to get to voice mail the command is ax.. you should see a prompt for user name..get that right and the next screen will ask for a password..the mail is menu driven,, so it gets easier.. option 1 option 1 f8 (view modify) then the exten number will show you a mail box, down arrow to the bottom, look for login attemps, make sure the box is not disabled, then press the change password key..enter the new password enter enter the new password again

If you dont know much about the system as your questions suggest, I would suggest you get a CBT(Computer Based Training) course from someone. You can really foul things up by going to the wrong place. Not trying to scare you just some advice (good or bad).

Thanks guys! Looks like I didn't get in. Does anyone have a cbt? or point me towards the right direction?
