I am relatively new to Flash and I am stuck on a particular problem.

I have buttons in my movie, which appear on screen via an Alpha tween, no problem there! The problem I am having is when I go to the Actions tab, the onMouseEvent() action is grayed out? Where am I going wrong?

Any help with this would be much appreciated.
What version of Flash are you using? How did you create your button?

My best guess: you've applied another action to the current object(such as an On Release). This will disable the On Mouse Event.

I'm not sure if this is your problem but have you put a key frame in the frame you want for the different actions of the button

Your trying to go in from modify frame but what you need to do in once its a button (do that by selecting it then hitting-insert-convert to symbol-button) then you need to add a keyframe. Once you have done that then click on the first keyframe and click on modify-then instance then actions then on mouse event. Discountvacations@yahoo.com

i had the same problem
in the actions list
scroll down to the last line "endon()"
if you select that line it will allow you to add more mouse actions
hey see i have one suggestion see if it works.
U have a tweened thing on one layer ok.
Now from the library place ur button on other layer just the layer above the tweened button layer and where the tweening ends just one frame after it.Align it manually.
In the tweening layer insert a blank frame just after the twening animation(ie exactly below the new button that u have placed on new layer.)

Now dont go to action box by double clicking on the frame instead double click on the button u have placed on new layer.
their ur action box appears.
Select on mouse event and specify whatever action u want.
do it with cool head if confused get back.
