Has someone out there done a setup of VoIP Stations? I've got the C-LAN and MedPro cards, but I can't find a step-by-step manual on Avaya's website on how to actually impliment it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

Kris

Hi

Follow that steps:

1) ch ip-int to add boards (type: clan and medpro, enter location and node name - default) assign valid gateway IP number and subnet mask and enable ethernet port
2) ch node-names ip to assign the IP addresses and port to the circuit packs
3) ping the assigned IP addresses to check if they are visible in Your network

next steps depend on the system version. I'm using the R10si and R11si and there are a few differences. If You're experiencing problems You can ask me with more details, I'll try to help You

I believe I've fumbled my way through most of it. I've created a media extension and assigned it to my ip station. However, I'm unclear the type of set I should say the extension is. I was under the impression you programmed it as at 46xx phone.

IP hard phones are 4606, 4612, & 4624 and 4602 & 4620.

The 4600 Series IP Telephone Installation Guide (555-233-128) has all of the set configuration information. Some of the terminology is a little bit different:

CallSv=C-LAN IP Address
FileSv=TFTP Server
CallSv Port=1719

What release is your switch? You don't need media extensions anymore if its r9.5 or above.. You used to have to make media complex extensions with an h.323 type..

and yes you program it as a 46xx phone..

MV sotware release 11.2. Whats going on with the softphone is it tries to login and sits there FOREVER. If I don't have a Media Extension in there, the softphone comes up immediately on login and says "An Error was Identified with the Definity Login Application". If this error continues, contact Avaya." Maybe I've got an older version of the softphone. What is the newest version and where can I get it?

Thanks...

Kris

If you are dealing with IP Softphone/IP Agent I had a similar problem earlier this week. On the IP Agent setup, under 'Settings', 'Dialing Properties', 'Advanced', make sure that 'Avaya Definity IP Service Provider" is there. I am using IP Agent in the dual connect mode, however, without that entry it would not register with the C-LAN and gave me the same error message.

Kevin

If its not in there, how do you add it. For me its not in there.

Kris

What version of softphone are you running? Release 4 is the latest, release 2 or earlier are the ones that needed teh media complex to work..

BuckWeet

I'm running Release 4 of the IP Softphone. And I reinstalled the software and now I have Avaya IP Agent in the telephony list.

Still having the problem.

Kris

It should be "AVAYA IP Service Provider" not IP agent.. Make sure that you don't have IP agent installed as well...

BuckWeet

I'm sorry. It is Service Provider.

It still comes back and says I need to contact Avaya Support.
