Hello,
I'm trying to install road runner high speed internet. When I run the install disc there is a message that states there is a driver for another network card that must be removed before installation can continue. When I opened up network properties, the 2nd card is not displayed. I also opened up system properties and it is not displayed. How can I find this driver? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

A.Davis

Uninstall your existing (known) network card drivers first. Then let the roadrunner installation detect and re-install it for you. Make sure you know what card you have as it might have you browse the CD for the driver.

If you are running AOL or VPN type apps...you may have a virtual adapter installed....check for these as well. I would actually just delete all network properties and re-install those you need.

One more thing...Check for a DUN (Dial up Networking Adapter also) possibly instaling a newer version of DUN will assist.

Hello,
I think that's it a virtual adapter since the system was using aol. How do I delete it since I can't find the driver for it? Thanks a lot for any help.

uhhhh, although your specifics are a little lacking for this particular answer, teh generic caveat is SNAP THAT CD IN TWO! yeh, harsh, but way more than not quite accurate. both roadrunner (had it) and comcast (had it) provided 'gross mommy hand-holding and interference' disks (imnsho). if your b0x was working just fine
on a modem, about the only information you *need* is the gateway numbers and whether (probably) to use dhcp for wins resolution. to get that info you will have to argue your way past the first layer of 'pest-filters' they call 'tech support' but that shouldn't be too hard <g>.

also, make sure you have the latest drivers for your nic card.
