Hello,

I have an analog polycom soundpoint hooked up to the mfm module in my MLX 10dp phone. I can dial the adjunct extension and pick up with the speaker phone so I know the hardware configuration is correct.

FYI: Polycom Soundpoint has only one applicable button. On/Off which does the equivalent of picking up the receiver of an analog phone.

I would like suggestions on the best way to program/configure this setup to make the speakerphone setup as integrated as possible.

For Example, I would like to be able to:
1) answer my phone by hitting the on-off button on the external speakerphone
2) Make outgoing calls with the speakerphone active.
3) switch from speakerphone to handset & handset to speakerphone easily.

I would welcome any suggestions anyone may have.

Thanks,
Rob.

It does have a keypad, with touch tone buttons, right? A number pad? If it does not, then this is not going to be an easy task.

Nope, no keypad. Just On/Off, Volume, & Mute.

First, some info about my system:
Legend R7, v12 processor, mode: key, winspm 9.0. Primary phone is a mlx10dp, external speakerphone is a polycom soundpoint analog (not to be confused with a polycom soundstation conference phone).

Second, a couple of pertainent notes from the support.avaya.com website...

Although a device connected through an MFM may not have buttons, the system treats it as a multiline telephone with 34 buttons.

When Ringing/Idle Line Preference is turned on for an MFM and Automatic Line Selection is set to an outside line/trunk, inside calls cannot be made and features cannot be used. Both inside and outside calls can be received.

Calls are sent independently to the MLX telephone and its associated MFM. The following features can be employed when a user wants calls to be received at both the MLX telephone and the device connected to an MFM:
Cover buttons
Shared SA buttons
Buttons assigned the same outside lines
Forward and Follow Me
Transfer

I have been trying to setup a primary cover so that I can at least answer with the external speakerphone, but I cannot even seem to get that to work. I expect that I want to setup a shared SA button(s), but I am not sure. Also, the 'Shared SA Ring' section is grayed out in winspm for this extension. Please help!

SSA (Shared SA) cannot be used on Analog Extensions (good move Avaya). Make sure that the primary cover delay for the MLX is set to the lowest number of rings. And without touuchtone buttons, you can pretty much just transfer calls to the speakerphone, BUT YOU CANNOT TRANSFER THEM BACK TO THE MLX.
