i want to create an applet and use the jslider. is there any way to position and size the jslider other than the preset layouts? Positioning such as setting x,y coordinates and sizing width and height would be excellent

try the CardLayout or the XYLayout (from package com.borland.jbcl.layout - if uou use Borland JBuilder)
