Help with IrDA

I am using a Edisonsoft ES-620 USB Infrared Adapter.
This is installed on my desktop running on WinXp Professional.

I have a laptop having a IrDA Fast Infrared Port.( On compaq Evo N800c)

now i am able to detect my laptop from my computer( Desktop running Winxp proff) but i am unable to detect my desktop on my laptop.( Compaq machine running on WinXP Home).

Kindly some one help me .....

I tried transfering some files from my desktop but it said the target computer was not responding .... but my computer was able to detect the laptop and even tell the system name.

have you tried checking the bios of your laptop?
