Hi!
I had not used intellisense (did vfp6.0 have it) but since going to vfp 9 I love using it. For someone still learning what can be done where, it is great.

My problem is:

When I start typing the command and the window pops up and I select the next step by 'entering' that much is completed but the cursor moves to the next line. That is great if I have selected the last thing I need but otherwise I have to go back up a line and to the end of the line to continue.

Is there a way I can make a selection and stay on the line? I'm thinking using some key other than 'enter' or mouse click to select the option; or, are there settings somewhere to set that behavior?

Thanks

Judi

Hi Judi,

did vfp6.0 have it

No. It came in with VFP 7.0 (which is why I hate using 6.0).

To answer your question, you should hit the space bar to trigger auto-completion. If you are typing a function, the left paranthesis will also do it.

You could use:
[.] - point
[ ] - space
Tab
[Shift+Space]

Borislav Borissov
VFP9 SP1, SQL Server 2000/2005.

Thanks to you both. I can use . (dot) very effectively. Thought I tried that but I guess I didn't.

Thanks again.

Hi Judi.

did vfp6.0 have it

No - IntelliSense was introduced in version 7. However, therre was a shareware application called Cobb Editor Extensions (CEE) that gave you a lot of the same functionality as IntelliSense. It also gave you functionality that IntelliSense does not have. If the mouse was on a word in a code editing window and you pressed < ALT > + 6, CEE would automagically insert a LOCAL declaration for the word under the mouse.

IntelliSense broke CEE. But do not worry. If you have MegaFox, we have an ALT+6 replacement in chapter 1 [2thumbsup]
