Help with IIS folders, please

Hi,

I’m trying to create a new site using Dreamweaver and IIS. There are a lot of related files which I need to hand but don’t want to put in the web folder, so I created a structure thus:

http://wwwroot

/newsite
/related stuff
/newsite.co.uk
/images
/includes
/etc
default.asp
file1.asp etc.

But when I try to access

http://localhost/newsite/newsite.co.uk

I get:

“You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed.”

I’ve looked at the properties of this folder but I didn’t get any clues. Can anyone advise what I should do to get around this or is it an IIS thing?

right click on the folder in the IIS console and then choose the properties menu item. In the Virtual Directory tab of the dialog box look in the Execute Permissions: text box. Set the relevant value here (scripts only/scripts &executables)

Hi - thanks for that. It worked - up to a point!

I am now being asked to enter a "network password" before I can access this site. I've tried all the obvious usernames/pasword combinations but nothing seems to work.

I've been flailing around trying to work out what's happening and I now find that I'm being asked to provide a password for every one of my localhost sites - and I can't get into any of them.

Any idea what I've done wrong?

In the IIS properties dialog go to the Directory security tab. Press the Edit button in the Edit Anonymous access and authentication control. Make sure you have the anonymous access check box checked
