Hi All,

I need to make ext 25 my fax extension. I set 25 as the fax extension in VM programming and when we try to dial out we get a high pitched tone. I know the line works because when I connect it directly to one of the incoming lines in the phone closet (i.e. bypass the phone system) we get dialtone and can dial out.

I went into WinSPM into Sys Program -> Aux Equipment -> Fax -> Extension according to the manual but when I enter 25 as the fax extension I get the "you-can't-do-that bing-bong" tone. 25 is not in any cover groups or calling groups. Is there something else that could be preventing me from assigning it as a fax ext in WinSPM? Like some other assignment or setting? I think it was originally setup as a MLX-10 extension (when I go into Phone Programming in Quick Access it says it's a MLX-10 ext) so is there something that needs to be undone?

Thanks in advance!

Faxes are analog - not digital. You cannot an analog fax to a digital station port on an MLX module. You could use an MFM (Multifunction Module) inserted in the bottom of an MLX phone - or get an 012 or 016 Basic Telphone module - to connect a fax to
