Im having problems with my DNS. I have a server which is running DNS and a primary and secondary DNS to access internet from the local phone company. When I type all 3 DNS numbers into my IP stack only 1 works at a time depending whats the topmost. So if the server DNS is topmost i get my GPO's and scripts but no internet...when i put the internet DNS first i get internet but no gpo's scripts or name resolution....

Do i need to go onto my server under DNS and add the internet DNS somewhere so it can resolve off all at the same time not just the one thats topmost in the DNS list? Thanks

I don't understand why you have 3 DNS's. Why not have one for your domain that Forwards external requests to an outside DNS. Point all clients to the internal DNS which will resolve to the external if necessary, and still allow for proper authentication.

I agree with hewissa. Internally make your DNS on your server using whatever address suits your network. Then use DNS forwarding to forward request for your phone company such as the internet. You might need to delete the . dot dns to add your forwarder. This will take out the root and let you add the forwarder of your internet DNS.

Good luck

under the properties for your server within the dns CONSOLE select interfaces and insure DNS listens on all IPS you may also make sure the root servers exist under root hints
