Hi I'm a new user of InDesign so bare with me. What I'm trying to do is cut a rotated ellipse along a vertical guide. But everytime I try and do it it cuts it on an angle and isn't straight. I've place an image in the ellipse and it also has a stroke. Thanks sooooo much in advanced and I hope that all makes sense! :)

One of the easiest ways to cut the shape vertically or horizontally is to draw an empty rectangular frame. Then select the elipse and Cut. Select the rectangle and select Paste Into from the Edit menu. You can then crop the elipse by simply resing the rectangular frame. Once it's done you can group those two. It might not be too "elegent" but it gets the job done.

Don't understand the second part of question about a stroke on the image.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

thank you for help. I still couldn't find the anwer to my question. I think I just have to clarify with the guy what he meant.

Is it possible to cut the ellipse before you rotate it? Or does that give you a different angle to the one you want?
