I'm sorry if this question sounds funny. I'm in the midst of creating a project db and it can have three parts. For instance - (and what I'm hitting my head on) we require an easement and an encroachment but not an aquisition for person A , person B, however needs an aquisition. For this part I have used check boxes. My problem is putting the date of the check into the first contact text box. Am I going about this wrong?

If you explain the problem a little clearer, i may be able to help you.

I figured that using a toggle attached to a macro would work better for this part.

But... I cannot seem to get a date in my memo field per new memo for the job. Any ideas? Just a timestamp in a memo field on enter - followed by the writers text.

Is this a historical memo field that contains other dates from other changes? IE: Every time someone modifies a checkbox the program adds a date (of which there could be multiple) to show someone touched it?

Or maybe this is something like the notes section in the application GoldMine (those familiar will know) where a time stamp is placed when someone enters a note on that contact? Joe Miller

Actually yes to both.

It may be used later for litigation (gads!) so all contact, etc.. need to be dated, and people proof. I've got an ugly timestamping going on right now using the default value, and am trying to read all of this forum. :)

Rather than have a memo field which is not capable of being Indexed or Sorted do all this work (read: SLOW for queries!!). Why not have another table to hold notes that would have 3 fields per se, ID (linked to your main table), EntryDate, Entry. Then you can make a subform and have people record on a line item basis notes and set the default value of the EntryDate to Date() which will automatically put in the date the entry was made?

It means some rework, but it's much more effective and easier to maintain. That seems important if this could be used in legal proceedings.
