Need some help here as I am not a phone guy, and we don't have much money to spend on this. The hard drive in our NAM V2.1 has died. I'd like to get this running as cheap as possible, from what I have found, getting a new hard drive is a long shot... I may have found a new 4.1 version in town. Would I just be able to swap this unit out for the new one, plug it in and have it work? Will it need configuration, or do they do that automatically? The other equipment is a M0X16, M12X0 and Norstar Plus Modular ICS, all 1997 vintage.

Numbers on the Modular, if it helps...

Thanks guys, appreciate it.

It's seriously not worth wasting time on the NAM if you can help it! Maybe find a Startalk Flash you can throw in instead...

Would that be compatible with our system? Can I just plug it in, or will it need to be configured?

I just noticed you are in Calgary, as are we. Wondering if you have a Startalk Flash for a decent price. Looking at the manuals, it seams I can plug it in, then do all the configuration through the phone, is that correct?

Can I just plug a Flash 4 into our existing setup and configure mailboxes through a handset, or do I need to configure the box to work with our setup first?

Let the Flash 4 boot up, configure for your digit length (F983 - CONFIG), then add mailboxes, greetings, etc. through a system phone. If the Flash is V1.9 or higher you first need to activate the feature range F980-989 by dialing F903, then configure and program.

OK, thanks. I've found a new in box NAM v3 in town, and the seller has offered to configure it. This seams the cheapest and easiest exit for me. Fingers crossed it works. If not I'll look into a Flash 4 if it is compatible.

You need to make sure it will work with your MICS.
You best option was to call in a tech and see if they can fix on site, if not then advise exactly what you need to do/purchase.

What I mean is the compatibility needs to be correct.....find out what the version of software is on the MICS.

Ya, the problem is business is tight right now, and we need to do this as affordably as possible. Techs aren't cheap....

Ca your business afford the LOSS of business due to a phone system that's not fully operational?

Hi Atcom, The NAM is not going to work, as it is Fibre and he couldn't get the copper card to work with it. I've been talking to another guy, but not sure he has an option for me, so I may give you a call tomorrow if you have something that will work. Does this forum have a PM system for exchanging contact info?

No

Did you read my bit about compatibility?
What version software is in the MICS?
This is the first thing you need to worry about.

These are the stickers on the MIPS, I assume it means it's 1.1 V12.7?

Either one will work as long as you have an available fiber expansion port. The Flash in the link is a Flash-2 with only 24 mailboxes. If that's enough mailboxes it will work. If not, look for a Flash-4 with 48 mailboxes. All programming is done through a system phone.

You can use those same connections fr the flash. You can probably find one cheaper on eBay though just an FYI.
