I am trying to use an unused DN to add a new phone.

I used LD 20 To determine that DN 2792 was available.
PRT
LUDN

I first tried to copy a 2616 phone that has one add on module and used the TN 24 0 5 10 and DN 2792. When I plug the phone into the wall jack, the phone does not receive any programming.

I outed that 24 0 5 10 phone and programed a new phone from scratch (The TNB print out is below). Same thing when I plug the phone into the wall jack, the phone does not receive any programming.

Both times the STAT 24 0 5 10 shows the unit as IDLE.

I outed that 24 0 5 10 phone again. Moved a 3904 phone from TN 4 0 7 6 to 24 0 5 10 and verified the wall jack does work and it is indeed 24 0 5 10. I moved the 3904 phone back to the original 4 0 7 6.

I have no clue what I am missing and would really appreciate all help.

Thanks !!!

Jason

You have proved the TN is good by using the 3904...Have you verified the 2616 as being good? I have seen several Idle condition sets bad...Possible perform an IDU of the 2616 or a untt test to isolate

Yes. I plugged the 2616 in question into a port of a different 2616 with an add on module and it recieved the programming successfully.

See if you can make the 2616 work at the PBX room TN closest to the switch tail. If it works closest to the switch and not at the jack, it may be a loop lenghth problem or funky impedance issue with that set.
With that being said....you could try amnother TN off another Superloop IPE shelf or change tns to another card.
As for each change....make it work in the PBX room first then check it at the station.
I have seen older 2616 sets have loop length and impedance issues!

Check your pairs ... ie try flipping one end of the pair of wires you are using for cross connects to see if they are reversed at the jack.

trvlr1,

Thanks !!! That was exactly it. I moved the 3904 set to that port and it worked just fine. I tried the 2616 set on that port and it did not work. After reversing the pairs the 2616 worked just fine. I really appreciate the help !!! So do the 39xx series of sets not care about the polarity where the 26xx series of sets do ?

Thanks dapster1 for helping me troubleshoot. I did not try to move the phone to a different superloop. I am assuming that would have worked as well since the pair would have probably been trimmed out correctly for that TN.

Jason

3904's are not polarity sensitive where 2616/2008/2216 etc phones are.
