Hi all,

About two weeks ago had two very intense technical interviews, covering everything from SQL Server version 7.0 to version 2008. After both interviews I had a very good feeling. Those good feelings were not in vain, I received offers from both jobs. After a lot of thinking and soul searching I decided to take the lesser paying job (better growth opportunity). The recruiter for the position I did not select will not leave me alone now. She keeps trying to convince me that I am making a mistake, even to the point of talking down about the company I decided to join. I am looking for a nice way to tell her to leave me alone without burning any bridges. Can anyone help?

I would probably stop answering the phone when I saw their number pop up.

When Rochelle Recuiter calls you next time just say...

Hi, Rochelle. Thanks again for introducing me to (Second-place Company). I appreciate your follow-up.

As I've mentioned to you before, I chose (First-place Company) for a combination of many factors. Each time you call to encourage me to recind my acceptance of the position with (First-place Company), it puts me in an uncomfortable position for several reasons:[ul][li]You are, in essence, either calling into question my judgement, or you are suggesting that I am ignorant of information which you presume I don't have.[/li][li]You suggested that although I have committed to (First-place Company) to come work for them, that I should break my word, despite your knowing that my word is my bond, and my integrity is one of my most valued qualities as a professional.[/li][li]If you represented both (First-place Company) and (Second-place Company), would you diminish the reputation of (First-place Company) as you have to me?[/li][/ul]All of these issues place our relationship at risk. I don't want to risk our relationship because I value your friendship and the work you have done in my behalf.

(Then just let Rochelle respond.)

I think I will put what Santa say in an email format and send it to her. She emailed me again last night. So I will reply with this wonderfully thought out response.

Thanks

add in that all you have in this world is your word and your b4lls and you dont break them for anyone!

You know, in this economy some people might consider this question as bragging.

I'm just sayin'...

Recruiters only call you when you aren't looking for a job.

And then send you for jobs you:

a) don't want or
b) are not qualified for.

How many times have you been sent details of a job calling for a particular discipline when the recruiter knows that you do not have that skill-set?

Yeah, it like that old saying that the bank only lends money to those who can afford it. Recuiters only seem interested when you're not available.

I don't think I'd go into all that detail about your choice with her. Odds are she won't even be around in a few months. Unprofessional behavior smacking of desparation.

Thanks everyone for all your input. The issue was resolved and I've started working at the first-place company (as Santa said) last week. After a few emails back and forth she finally got it and left me alone. Also for the statement about me bragging, I don't think I was. It was just me sharing my experience with my job hunt/interviews and very strange recruiter. But if anyone took it the wrong way I must apologies.

Thanks All
