I need some advice. I would like to become certified. Where should I start? I am self taught in what I know about computes but would like to go to work in this field. Please give me an info you can on where I can start to study what I need to know to become certified.

dka1:

If you want to start with Windows 2000 you are better of with starting with Windows 2003. If you already past some 2000 exams continue and finish them all and then do 70-292 + 70-296.

1 buy 2 pc?s
2 a small hub
3 get the the windows 2003 software at for free
4 buy the study books (before buying check out amazon.com and search books with 70- *** exam numbers and check out the reviews of each study book- u do not want to waste your money on worthless content ... )
5 set up a home lab
6 do the excersices !!! (hands on)
7 buy the transcender exams - only for the hardest exams -
8 and pass

also do some linux/unix, you?ll never no !!

download unix sun solaris 9 (for free !! ) for intel cd?s at sun.com

hope this helps

Check out this link and see what MS cert you wish to go for.

Also maybe an idea to identify what field you would like a job in (i.e. SQL, networking, systems admin).

the only caveat I would add is get your A+ and if you are into it get your security+ cert.

Look, wake up and build a business plan for your career. Make your certifications come up with an ROI. Don't just rely on what the folks who offer the cert say. Don't just rely on what those who offer the training say.

Tests are a minimum of $125. Books, test PC, and training can be hundreds--or more likely thousands--more. Make that an investment in your future. Don't just do it because it's cool.

Bill Gates and Michael Dell are billionaires. Between them they haven't got one technical cert or one earned university or college degree. But they pay the salaries of thousands who do...
