please help.. self taught user... can't figure out how to type text vertically (example "West Coast Choppers" Maltese Cross lettering)...

thanks!
Deanna :)

Press Enter between each letter and use centre alignment.
Is that what you were after?

Hi Kaik,

try this:

type your text.
draw a vertical line with the bezier tool (left-hand toolbar, fourth button down).
Select both the line and the text.
Go to 'text' pull-down menu and select 'fit text to path'.
Your text should now be vertical against the line.
There will several options shown on the top toolbar on how to show the text.

Good luck.

Both above replies will work - if the vertical spacing from pressing 'enter' is too large, however, you may want to type each letter by itself as an individual piece of text.

Don't worry about their alignment while typing. For simple vertical spacing you can use the distribute tool to equalize the spaces between them and the align tool to centre them above each other.
