wanted to try apce and have a website running... Installed once, but due to low disk space, I have uninstalled it..now when I try to install it again... the maneger loads, but no instances in it.. apache doesn't run, try or ###.##.##.## nothing works.. plz help.

Internet Information Server & Personal Web Server are web servers that were included with various versions of Windows. If your version of Windows has either, you should find a listing in Add/Remove Programs, Windows components.

Possibly the easiest way to find out what's listening on port 80 is to open a browser on the machine that's running the server & open the address - What happens?

sorry i don't need anymore help...I got another server, more configurable one and put it on pirt 5 for example ###.##.##.##:5 thank you for all your help....

and what's the difference if you put a webserver on to diff. port?

The difference is that anyone that tries to access it will need to know what port number is used & add it to the address as you have shown. In fact, if you still have the other server active & serving blank pages, that's what users will continue to see unless they add that port number. And, FWIW, I highly doubt that your new server software is more configurable than apache.

well if you include apache text setting files..then apache wins..but i cant get it to work :(
