I've been having problems adding new phone sets via OTM on our Meridian 61c. I keep getting the "Terminal Already Exists Error" - SCH0127.

I'm not sure what this is refering to? The TN is free...please help I'm new at this.

Thanks.

When you say the TN is free, do you mean in the OTM or the Switch? Have you checked the Switch to see if it is available? You should do a Sync with the switch to match everything up.

Free in OTM.

I am in the process of running a "Global Update" in OTM, so maybe this will solve the problem?

To horribly misquote Miss Shakira, These switches don't lie.

If the switch is telling you the TN is used, it's used. OTM just wishes it knew what the switch knows.

I'm not positive that global update is what you need here - I don't think that's the same thing as Synchronizing your switch to the OTM.

I find adds, moves and changes to be MUCH easier from the switch. I don't use OTM at all for that. I only have it because it was here when I got here. Seems to come in handy for reports in the billing/costing module but that's all I've seen it good for. My vendor, on the other hand, loves it - won't tell me anything unless it's through OTM. I listen politely and then come ask these guys how to do it for real.

OTM is all I've ever used. I've done a few things via the terminal but I'm more comfortable with the GUI OTM provides.

How would I check in the switch if the TN exists?

Which is why I'd rather listen to you and JohnPoole and GH and everybody else over on the right. ;o)

ld 20
REQ prt
TYPE tnb
TN enter the tnb in question

hit enter through DATE, PAGE and DES prompts and the switch will then print out everything you need to know about that TN. From there you can decide if it's really a TN you need or one that is no longer being used by anyone and is safe to out or whatever you want to do with it.

Thanks Lee, that helps me. The TNs that were giving me problems give me SCH0805 - "specified TN is invailid".

What does this mean? There is no such TN?

Hmmm - go back to ld 20 and stat the card and then paste it here.

ld 20
REQ stat l s c (Loop Shelf Card)

Mine would be
stat 4 0 13

that will give you stats on every position on that card.

THat should give us a better picture and where to go from here.

Oh yeah, if that tn is unequipped, you'll get that message too - it's physically there, just nothing built on it.

Of course, if nothing is built on it, and OTM says nothing is built on it, the question remains why can't you build on it? A stat will help...

One of the TNs I was trying to use was 028 1 14 00

Well, that's a good position on that card - other than mechanical failure, there's no reason I see why you shouldn't be able to build a new phone on that TN. You should also be able to copy a phone there or mov a phone there. Unless you are doing something with an ACD...in which case I'm really under-experienced and probably can't help much...

What were you trying to program on that TN?

If it was a 2000 series phone there should have been no issue, if it was something else then it would sch you.

I was leaning towards pwr for some devices but clearly on port 00 with no console or anything listed near it that cant be it.

Curious.

I was just trying to add a basic 2008. When I try to use that TN I get a "Terminal Already Exists Error" - SCH0127.

Maybe a bad port? Seems odd b/c I have a few other TNs on different cards giving me the same problem. I will have to run a stat on those cards and see if there is anything different.

I have seen this once before.

What I had to do was build a phone on the switch (using terminal on OTM). Then out the phone on the switch. After that OTM would allow me to build a phone using our templates we have preconfigured

I was trained on OTM, but am coming around to do more with the terminal on the switch.

LD 20
REQ LUVU
TYPE 2000 or 3000 or 500

this will list all the available TN's

Is OTM giving this code to you or is it the switch? If OTM go look at your "harware" portion wherre cards are listed and see if your TN you wish to use has been set to "RESERVE UNIT"

The TN may be reserved from use with this.

MIKE

Ahhh, that would explain some things. The switch won't lie to you but if it isn't the switch doing the talking...

The SCH code is coming from the terminal in OTM which I assume is the switch talking?

Could some please tell we how to check on the switch if a TN is set to reserve unit? I assume this is different from getting the stat on a card?

P.S. You guys are awesome! Thanks for all of the useful info so far. If anyone is ever on Toronto, I'll buy you a few beers!
