I have a cross-tab query sorted by 2 values. First the type of class the student is enrolled on and second the last name alphabetically.

When I run the query on query mode it shows the information correctly. However, when I use the cross-tab query in a form the data is only sorted by last name alphabetically.

Has anybody seen this before? Any help will be appreciated.

Is the TypeOfClass field a lookup field? Does it store a number but display text?

No its a text and diplays a text. I have bassically 2 types of classes core and electives (the actuall data in the field is "CORE" and "ENRICHMENT"
I sort first by this and then by last name. As I explained it does it right in the query but when I use it on a form it ignores the type and only does the last name

Have you opened the form in design view and checked the Record Source in datasheet view? If the records are in the correct order in the datasheet, they should be in the correct order in the form. I assume you are not referring to a report.

Duane,
My bad it is a report what is giving the problem. We where able to get the form to show the information correctly but the report is not colaborating with us.

Any ideas?

Reports sorting is based on the values set in the report's Sorting and Grouping dialog. The sorting in the query is not reliable in any way.
