I'm running a single master and 9 media servers all running win 2000 nb 5.0 mp2. Our whole environment migration up to this point has been Windows systems only. We just now started migrating HP-ux, MAC-OSXS, AIX and Linux clients. On the windows client properties, there is a section for the exclude list, but all of the Unix clients don't have that section. How do you exclude files in these situations?

Thank you,

Keith

you need to create an include_list.<policyname> on the client with the mount points listed within it. The include list needs to be placed at the location usr/openv/netbackup on the client.

an include list may look like the following format.
/
/stand
/var
/usr
/usr/sap
/sapmnt
/oracle
/opt
/home
/oracle/stage

You don't need an include list on UNIX. You just need to create a file list in the policy.

Exclude lists are created directly in the /usr/openv/netbackup directory on the client. You should use vi or simular edit tool. The format is the same as NT. There is a naming convention you have to use.

1. 'exclude_list' will exclude files from all policies that run on the client
2. 'exclude_list.day1' will exclude files from the policy called 'day1'
3. 'exclude_list.day1.full' will exclude files from the schedule called 'full' on the policy called 'day1'.

Policys will only read one exclude file, so for example the policy 'day1' will never look at 'exclude_list' because there is a list with its name on it. This does give you more felxability but of course makes things more complicated. But unlike NT you can run two poilcies on the same client with differant excludes.
