We just transitioned to a new phone company, unfortunately some things that we were lead to believe would work don't. We have a Norstar MICS1.1 and have converted to a VOIP product that is capable of outputting FXS line to the MICS. We have now lost out ability to transfer calls externally and to forward at the end of the night. I need to find a way to make our phone system replicate these features, at least until the LEC can provide us with them. We have a workaround in place for the night transfers but still need something for the external transfers. I know that anything we do will use two lines for the transfer and that is acceptable.

Thank you in advance to all that answer

External transfers could be done by transferring to 9+number - make sure redirect is enabled under the sets capabilities.

One thing to beware of - trunk to trunk transfers on analog lines typically causes a sharp drop in the volume level of the call - the receiving end may have a hard time hearing the original caller.

also make sure that the lines have Supervision on them or you will not be able to do external Transfer. Does te carrier offer a Link Feature? If so then you can Transfer back out using the same Line that the call came in on.

Thank you both for answering.

Blv343,
When I attempt a transfer (Feature 70) it now seems to work fine until I press the 9, then I get a "denied in admin" message. I did verify that redirect was enabled (config->Generial admin->Capabilities->Set abilities->Allow redirect:Y." Is there anywhere I should look?

Hawks,
Where do I turn on line supervision? I have been through the system and the books, and even Google, and I have yet to find anything other than what it does.

Any help is appreciated, I was thrown into this situation with little warning.

Under Line programming the prompt is SUPERVISION

Hawks,
I think I found where it should be. If it should be under config->A. Configuration->1. Trk/Line Data-> Line Data I do not have a setting to turn on supervision. I read somewhere that some of the older MICS units do not support supervision, and there is a chance that the IAD that the LEC provided does not sent the signal anyway.

Thanks again
Don

Config> Trunk/Line> Trunk Data> Show Line> Trunk Mode

That should not stop external transfer(DS)but it will be needed when the two lines hang up..You need to take the access code out of the pool and then do routing. This will let external transfer happen.

Destination code 9
route 000
