I have a Merlin Magix R1.5 system. I am trying to set up remote call forwarding for an offsite employee. Say his ext is 222. When a call is transferred to 222, the call should be forwarded to his cell phone, w/o ringing his extension. I have WinSPM 5.0 for programming and searched this forum. Found these two threads are relevant but could not finish the programming.

Basically I followed the 1st post, WinSPM >> Standard SPM >> sys program >> start >> extensions >> more >> remote frwd, entered 222 (I just used the actual ext not adjunct), >> enter >> back >> auth code >> 1234 >> enter >> back >> back, all the way out.

Then I went to the 222 extension phone (4412D+), off hook SA mode, >> #80, at prompt for "auth:", entered 1234, accepted, enter *33 or #33, prompted for "Forward to:", then it failed. If I enter 1 area code etc, it cut off right after I entered 1 with an ambulance siren like tone. If I don't enter the 1 before area code, it cuts off after 4 or 5 digits are entered. We don't use 9 access outside line.

Please help. I am not a phone guy - with very limited knowledge of the system. Thanks

Update:

Made some progress. Use #33 to enter forward number, at "forward to:" prompt, enter *13334445555# it is accepted by on the screen it only shows Forward:133344455 with last two digits cut off. Test calling and transfer to ext 222, got voice mail prompt. Never forwarding call.

You don't use the auth code if you are at the actual physical phone.

So at the phone, go off hook, dial #33-9-(telephone number)-# and you should be good. If you get wave off along the way, you haven't allowed RCF and Trunk to Trunk for the extension, and perhaps your trunks are not set for LS reliable disconnect.

Also, when you call the extension internally to test the RCF, be sure to use an SA-Ring button.

Here's a cheat sheet for setting up an adjunct extension, where you DO want to use the auth code, because you can't physically access the phone:

Hi Tommy thanks for the response.

you haven't allowed
1. RCF
I did in SPM: sys program >> extensions >> Remote Frwd >> Remote Call Forward: enter extensions. Enter 222 and hit Enter. Does this take care of it?

2. and Trunk to Trunk for the extension
I did in SPM: sys program >> extensions >> TrkTransfer >> Trunk to Trunk Transfer: enter extensions. Enter 222 and hit Enter. Does this take care of it?

3. and perhaps your trunks are not set for LS reliable disconnect.
How do I do this?

With 1 and 2 done, trying at the actual phone #33-(telephone number)-# I still get the wave off tone. We don't use 9 for outside access.

on 3. I did:
in SPM: sys program >> LineTrunks >> TT/LS Disc >> LS disconnect >> LS Reliable Disconnecting: Select One
Yes is already red. I selected Yes again anyway and Enter, Back all the way out.
Still the same.

Are you in Key Mode? You still need to dial the Idle Line Access Code, which is 9. Are you in Hybrid/PBX mode with no pools? I think my old work around was to loop a single line station to a trunk, program the single line station to access lines directly, and put the trunk in pool 70, so that I could still dial 9 and grab "dial tone

to TTT, I don't know what "Key Mode" is.
Regularly we don't dial 9 to get outside access. Just get off hook we have outside dial tone, and just dial the outside numbers. For internal calls to other extensions, we hit SA button then get off hook to get inside dial tone, and dial the other extension.

I don't think 9 matters here, because whether an ext to ext call or outside call rings the extension, it rings 4 times and gets to voice mail - never made an effort to forward the call.

It is not in hybrid/pbx mode.

My situation is identical to this one - you also responded to the OP there but it appears OP never came back to update what happened in the end:

I pulled the test extension 110 details as below, masked the forward number to 5556667777. It is same as the above thread, everything looks alright, the green light is on, but in the report "Forward Status Off"

The first thing you see when you enter standard SPM programming mode is a screen that says "Review and Exit" - review the information on that screen to tell if you are in Key or Hybrid/PBX mode. I'm pretty sure that you're in Hybrid/PBX because one of the parameters of the extension you listed has "ARS Restriction: 3" which is a PBX feature.

To forward calls to an outside telephone number, either press a programmed Forward button, or
press the Feature button and dial 33. Then select the outside line/trunk or pool on which to route
forwarded calls by dialing the ARS or pool dial-out code (Hybrid/PBX mode only), the Idle Line
Access code (usually 9; Key and Behind Switch modes only), the line/trunk number (usually 801—
880), or * (Centrex line, any mode).
If you are using Centrex Transfer via Remote Call Forwarding,
you may need to press the Hold button to enter a 1.5-second Pause character; consult your
Centrex provider. Press Hold at any time after entering the dial-out code, line/trunk number, or *.
Then dial the destination telephone number followed by a pound sign (#) to signal the end of the
dialing sequence.

Try using #33-803-5556667777-# as the forwarding number, and call from line 1 or 2.

@TTT
it is in key mode. at the startup screen of standard SPM, bottom, it says "NAGIX Release 1.5 v6.0 Mode: Key".

OK, then you need to put the 9 in the forwarding number, so that it will grab an available line, even though you don't do it for regular calls.

Thanks. Adding 9 made it work for calls initiated from another extension. Did not work for outside calls transferred to that extension.

So I did #80 to enter the auth code at the actual phone (although it has been said it is not needed), then it worked for outside calls.

Still don't understand why auth code and forward statuses are still off, although it is working now (see red lines below). It is just a very screwy system but I don't care.
Thanks again TTT.
