HELP..reinstalling Desktop and Synching Question

My old computer finally died, I got a new one last week, so I installed Palm Desktop Software, everything went ok. However, even though I set "Handheld overwrites Desktop", none of my addresses, dates, etc. from my Visor Platinum show up on the Desktop.
I know I'm doing something klutzy stupid wrong, will someone tell me and get me out of my misery?

did you check your username in palm desktop? (upper-right corner)

Thanks FelixTheCat, that is a good tip, although in this case it had nothing to do with the username.
I did solve my problem - I had installed conduits for MS Outlook, but I my handheld was using the built in software. When I change the conduit setting prior to synching again, everything worked well.
