Back in November we had an EPOS system installed that consists of the following equipment:

1x Front of House FOC MP 3435 with IRC Touch installed, plus a cash box and receipt printer

1x Bar FOC MP 3435 with IRC Touch installed, plus a cash box and receipt printer

1x a kitchen printer

The tills and the KP are connected by a Ethernet switch that has an external line to the Internet router.

For some reason the front of house till keeps loosing the connection with othe bar till and wants to disconnect.

Also the screen tends to freeze and the pos shuts down and restarts.

In addition to this for some reason they have installed two FOC 3435's which I believe to be servers, would this matter?

Thanks

Lee

2 servers won't be an issue if they are configured correctly. Usually one is a master server, and the other is a secondary, that only takes over if the master isn't seen. At least this is the case in most POS systems. I would have the front of house unit checked over for system board issues. Or it's getting too hot, look for vents and make sure someone hasn't blocked them, with the bank bag, or some other paper work. Not a whole lot to go on here, you have given no information as to the troubleshooting steps attempted so far. Diagnostics on hardware, or software?

Up to now we've changed the Ethernet switch, because last week the tills kept loosing the kitchen printer so we thought it was a network issue.

But now were having problems with the tills going out of sync.

Each till has IRC Touch software installed.

not a network issue if you have a machine that is rebooting, or freezing up. That is generally a hardware issue.

We've now installed UPS's on each till, touch wood it's worked as should.
