I have a win2k domain server AD, there is one workstation with a shared printer that all users print to, they all use a DOS program, in the old 98 days I would just set up that printer and capture the LPT2 port and everything was fine.

Since I've updated the workstations to win2k pro, added the printer to each local machine. I start the DOS application from a batch file that captures LPT2 to the workstation with the printer.

Everything seems right, but, when the print jobs are sent to the printer I get an error (there has been a printer error do you wish to retry or cancel), the jobs go to the que, but, never print (hence the error).

I'm really stuck here, and any help is appreciated!! Do I need to make the printer part of AD somehow, and use it that way??

thanks ahead of time for any help!

Have you told the queue that you print from DOS? This is a standard question when you build the queue.

I tried differnt things on Friday, but still couldnt get it, How do I tell it I'm pringing from DOS? I changed the port to TEXT and it did start spooling, but would keep adding pages (over 1000) to the spool, but never printed.

It seems like it knows to go to that printer, but either get a downlevel error or continues to spool and never prints.

thank you for your reply, this is really important to them and I'm really stuck.
