I have a server that will be coming up soon. I want to make sure I keep it running in top performance.

My server is going to give TV listings. (BTW The servers whole reason for living is for the SQL server portion of it, nothing else will be on this server) I do not care about the transaction logs. All I want to do is make sure the server is feeding the information to people who need it.

What are some of the common problems people have once a server comes live?
Are there any good maintenance plans out there already made up that i can look over and see if they will work for my server?
What can i expect/look for when it does come live? (problem wise)

I want to thank anyone who replies to this thread.

Thanks,
Pat

Read up on it's trace monitors. Run a trace for a day on the server. This will monitor all transactions to the server. You can then use this file in a performance wizard and SQL will give you suggestions on maintaing performance and also key you in on proper indexing for hte tables to increase performance etc..

I am fairly new to most of this.

By trace monitors do you mean trace logs in performance manager?

nevermind i found my answer! Thanks for the advice.
