Hi,

I've tried below command to unzip a file but encounterd
some error, can any expert guide me for any clues? Thanks!

honey{198}/export/home/honey%gunzip gcc-2.95-sol7-sparc-local.gz

gunzip: gcc-2.95-sol7-sparc-local.gz: not in gzip format

Hi,

Try "gzip -d gcc*" to unzip the file.

Hope this helps.

did you get this from sunfreeware? you might have to use the pkg command.

Hi jaymzter,

Thanks for ur advice. I did get it from Sun, it's a GCC freeware. Anyway it works when using pkgadd -d <filename>. Cheers!

The softwares available at sunfreeware.com which are in *local.gz format are packages.. So one needs to unzip them to get in actual package format and add the package using pkgadd command..
