I'm Running 2000 professional:
I was locking my system down from being hacked and disabled many of my system services, including the Server Service. I also changed a few of the security settings. Now here are the problems I'm having:
- When I try to enable some of the services I right click on that service and select properties, and nothing comes up.
- When I open my event log folder and try to drill down into any of the sub folders I can select the event I want to view, but when I try and open it I get a nothing.

Now the reason I think this is happening is because when I disabled the server service it also stopped the "computer browser".

Does anyone know how to enable a service from command line. I know how to start a service from command line, but don't how to enable one.

Any other suggestions would be helpfull!!!

Thanks in advance!!!!

check the console commands , u can get to the concole using your Windows 2000 CD , repair option , command console Mohamed Farid
Know Me No Pain , No Me Know Pain !!!

As far as I can see the net start command only allows me to "start" the service not "enable" it.
