the locked files within a NOD32 scan are files which are locked by Windows i.e pagesys.sys, ntuser.dat, ntuser.dat.log etc

System restore will also lock the restore files, these files are scanable but no AV can remove files from the system restore locations, the only way to remove them from there is to turn off system restore and let it remove all the files used and then once you've done a complete scan you can turn it back on again.

As these files are locked by the OS no anti-virus scan will be able to open them, as they are locked upon boot if an AV can't open them then neither can a virus infect them.

Unlike other AV packages NOD32 tells you it can't open the file.

i have Norton suite now should i get nod32 back or just stay with notion.

nick and thank for the help

just google peoples thoughts on Norton AV, if you've paid for NOD32 then you should stick with it.
