Whenever my file server loads, it gets the no page file or page file too low error. i am sure it is becuase of hard drive space because the server has 650mb of ram and i set the paging file size to 700mb, but now for some reason(probably something installed), it only has 300mb free(on the c drive that is, d drive is the file drive). question is, what things can i delete to free up space?? I.E. where are some log files to look for, or any other files that i can just move to the d drive. I did find one that is over 200mb, it is the Servicepackfiles folder on the winnt directory, can i move this folder to the d:?? i figured that this folder was just backup files, is that true? Win2000 service pack 2. your help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Jeff,

the Service Pack contains bug-fixes. If you run it, it will update your system files and then you can delete it. You might want to burn it on cd for further use, for example when you need to install W2K new and want to run the Service Pack again.

Hope I was helpful,

Stephanie

I already have the service pack installed and also have a copy of it on the server and i also will not be fully deleteing it, just moving it to the d drive which had plenty of space. So is it save to say that the files in there can be moved??

Put you paging file on the D drive since there's plenty of room on that drive.

Add a paging file to the D drive and leave a paging file on the C drive.

Try uninstalling some software packages and install them back, only choose the install path as D drive instead of C

and

Empty the recycle bin

and

Delete files with the .tmp extension

or

1. Perform a complete backup and a second complete nt backup of everything on the c drive.
2. Replace the drive with a larger capacity
3. Reinstall the os creating a larger partition
4. recover from backup.
