Hi all,

I've setup a NIS server and all seems to be running ok, EXCEPT .......

I can't change a password for a user using either passwd or yppasswd !! I've tried on all clients, and even the server... Am logged in as root, but after typing the new password and confirming it I get -

passwd (NIS): Couldn't change passwd/attributes for user1
Permission denied

Any ideas ??? I'm sure it's something real stupid. I've checked file permissions on /var/yp/src (where I keep my source files for Make), and everything seems to match a working NIS server.

Hope someone can help.

Cheers

Sorted it myself !!!

Changed permissions on /var/yp/src and restarted the rpc.yppasswdd daemon.
