I have two home W98SE PCS networked (p2p via swapped cable)on identical 3com PCI 595 10/100 NICs. PC#1 has ICS installed. Evrything is peachy except PC#2 locks up when attempting to send data to shared folder on PC#1. PC#1 can send and receive no problem and PC#2 can receive no problem.
Folders are fully shared (ie not read-only) and PC#2 can "upload" to i.e. (to send hotmails etc).
No trace of this problem mentioned on 3com support site.
Whats Up ?
Yours frustrated and tired....

Are you using a crossover cable? Also is the duplexing mode on the second PC set to Auto? James Collins

Yes its a crossover cable. There arent any duplex settings to change in the drivers for these cards. In fact theres not much at all you can change...only thing you can do is select bus and pci slot numbers. The cards must be auto-switching I suppose ?

I have more on this now....the network itself doesnt freeze....just pc#2.Also - ive now swapped the NICs over....the problem stays with PC#2.
