I am running ePO (Upgraded from 2.5 to 3.02)on windows2000 with MSDE database with 5 distributed repositories. Now there is a need to run the Master server from other site.Any information , guide is appreciated.
I am thinking for a solution to install another master server and moving the database to the new server and discard the old server. but dont know how to do that.
Thanks in advance.

No. It has to be another name . since the hostname for the servers are named based on the site and location.and the ip subnet is also different. :-(

You're going to have to reinstall the agents on all client machines.

Or maybe just tweaking the DNS record for the old server hostname to the new IP would do it.

Maybe not though - heh.

The DNS tweak option is out of scope-can not do that. and the reinstalling all the clients is the only option i thought of. if no other option available i will have to go for that.

That is the only option. That's how the clients will get the new server information.

I guess thats not the only problem. If you change the computer name you will be unable to use the same database. And don't forgot the Server sec/pub key.

You must maintain the same computer name.
