Hello

I backed up my data onto a Network Drive using the Windows 2000 Backup Utility. I had a disk crash and tried to restore the data from the file. I am getting the following error:

[Unrecognized Media]
The backup file is unusable. You must erase it, or choose another file.

Can someone give me a few tips on how to recover my data from the file. The file size is 2 GB. It has all my data and several years of effort.

Thanks in anticipation

I've had a similar problem with the Win98 backup. Till now, I didn't have a full solution; but I could recover some files from my backup file using the PKZIPFIX.exe (for DOS). I have recovered some files (unfortunately, the more important files... were at the "limbo"). Try to do that. I recommend that you make a copy of your backup file - if this option don't work, you will already have your original backup - for a new attempt, if (or when) it appears.

Good look.
