Was cutting and pasting a config into a router and did not put the aaa authorization commands last in the aaa section, thus we are now locked out of the router. It asks for a username and password even if we turn off the AAA servers it talks to for authentication.

Shy of reloading the router and coming up stupid in ROM mode, what can I do?

Go to the Cisco website and serach for password recovery for your particular model. It will list step by step instructions to get into the router so you can make the appropriate changes to your config.

Depending on how you configured the AAA commands, you may not have been able to issue a write mem. Reload the router and it will come back pre AAA commands. If your AAA commands allow you to do a wr mem, then you're SOL. Pass Recovery.

HTH,
Danny

do an snmpset command on the router to reload the old config from the server (if you have that).. or part of the config... the last one has no impact on the working of teh router since you are only changing the authentication part...
