HELP! Job engine will not start

Having a problem starting the job engine. Tried from arcserve and services. Getting this error:

183-Cannot create a file when that file already exists. Tape engine will not start.

dont know if our problem is related or not, but i hope this could be helpful,

my arcserve job engine once would not start also, (i forgot the error) but the solution was to erase all job, HTH

Open task manager after stopping all arcserve engines. If you see jobeng.exe (job engine), tapeng.exe (tape engine) or dbeng.exe (database engine), end the process. It sounds like you've got a rogue process that hasn't stopped after the last time you shut the engine down...if it comes up with 'access denied' you will have to either reboot the server or use the kill.cmd with the -f switch and process # example look for jobeng.exe in the list, find its 'pid' number...from a command line type kill -f (pid#)...if you don't have the kill.cmd try looking on the net for it...(I believe its either on the w2k server cd or in the resource kit..)
