Hi Guys,
I need to install the "Advanced Security Feature Pack" on our 2811. Currently the flash contents looks like this:

-#- --length-- -----date/time------ path
1 26017668 Jun 21 2005 06:11:06 c2800nm-spservicesk9-mz.123-8.T8.bin

37867520 bytes available (26017792 bytes used

Do I just tftp the image which is around 18Mb to another slot and reboot?

Thanks

no you don't have enough space in flash for this to happen, you'll need to make some space.

Actually you have 37mb available on flash thus I think you should be able to tftp directly to your flash device (if you image is only 18mb) and keep the current image in case you need to rollback.

If you do decide to keep both images (I'd recommend you do until you're 100% happy with the new one), put a 'boot sys flash xxxxxxxxxxxxxx' statement in the config where xxxxxxxxx i the full filename of the new image.

When I "copy tftp flash:xxxxx etc" do I just specify the src and dst? ie, no slot number. Will this just add the 18Mb image to the same slot next to the IOS image(1 in this cxase). Is the Advanced Security image actually the IOS. Ie, will it boot off this. The image is smaller than the original image? Sorry, a little confusing.

You have 36 meg available on that flash. Are you getting a message that says you do not have enough memory?

Actually guys that router has a std minimum flash of 64mb. He is currently using 26mb and has 37mb still available to use. Should be no problem loading another image into the flash. Also if you are using CME then you must use SP services or Advanced services for the CME application. Do no beleive Advanced Security has CME.

All you need to do is type 'copy tftp flash' and provide the details it requests at each prompt.

It will boot off the new image if you use the 'boot sys flash <new IOS image filename>' in config mode.

Thanks again guys. Much appreciated

Sorry guys. Having trouble with TFTP. Installed Solarwinds TFTP on the pc and set it to transmit&receive. Did "copy tftp flash" and gave the relevant details. Getting "Timeout errors" on TFTP responder. Tried backing up to pc and same error. Uninstalled and loaded another, but same....even on another pc.
Router is defibnatelys eeing the pc and fails with file unknown if filename misspelt.

Spent most of the day on this....Help!

In no particular order, check:

Check that the TFTP server is configured to transmit and receive files. I believe Solarwinds has a security configuration whereby you can specify whether to send or receive - think default is receive only which may explain this issue.

Managed to upgrade the 2811. Sh ver shows the new image (Advanced Security) software loaded.

Tried VPN from WinXP with the encryption ticked and fails to connect "Error 742 the remote computer does not support the required data encryption type". Works as before with encryption unticked. That's whay I upgraded to enable this option. Any ideas ?

Thanks

VPN is now working (mppe encrypted) at last!
ppp encrypt mppe 40
ppp authentication ms-chap

How is the IPSec set up on the Cisco to enable IPsec (pre-shared key) password to be used on the client (WinXP) PC?

Thanks
